The Langtang Gosainkunda Trek is a spectacular trekking route that combines the stunning natural beauty of the Langtang Valley with the spiritual significance of the sacred Gosainkunda Lake. Located north of Kathmandu in the Langtang National Park, this trek offers a blend of serene alpine landscapes, rich Tamang culture, and high-altitude pilgrimage sites.

Trekking through lush forests, terraced fields, and alpine meadows, you’ll reach the pristine turquoise waters of Gosainkunda Lake (4,380m), which is a holy site for both Hindus and Buddhists. The trek also provides breathtaking views of snowcapped peaks including Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, and Shishapangma.

This trek is moderately challenging and perfect for trekkers seeking a mix of nature, culture, and spirituality.

Day 01 :
Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m)
  • Arrive in Kathmandu and meet the Hiking Friends Nepal team at the airport.
  • Transfer to your hotel in the vibrant capital.
  • Enjoy free time to explore Thamel, a bustling tourist hub with shops and restaurants.
  • Attend an evening trek briefing with your guide.
  • Overnight: Hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 02 :
Drive to Syabru Besi (1,460m), Trek to Sherpagaon (2,560m)
  • Scenic drive along the Trishuli River to Syabru Besi (approx. 7-8 hours).
  • Trek 9km (6 hours) through dense forests and Tamang villages to Sherpagaon.
  • Elevation: ↑1,400m, ↓300m.
  • Trekking Time: 6 hours.
  • Overnight: Teahouse in Sherpagaon.
Day 03 :
Sherpagaon to Ghoratabela (2,970m)
  • Trek 9km (4-5 hours) through rhododendron forests and alpine meadows.
  • Enjoy panoramic views of the Langtang Himal.
  • Pass small settlements en route to Ghoratabela, surrounded by the Langtang range.
  • Elevation: ↑700m, ↓300m.
  • Trekking Time: 4-5 hours.

Day 04 :
Ghoratabela to Mundu (3,540m)
  • Trek 8km (6 hours) with a gradual ascent to the traditional village of Mundu.
  • Admire towering peaks, open fields, and traditional stone houses.
  • Elevation: ↑600m, ↓50m.
  • Trekking Time: 6 hours.
  • Overnight: Teahouse in Mundu.
Day 05 :
Mundu to Kyangjin Gompa (3,830m)
  • Short and easy 5km trek (2 hours) to Kyangjin Gompa, the heart of Langtang Valley.
  • Visit the famous monastery and enjoy spectacular views of snow-capped mountains.
  • Elevation: ↑300m.
  • Trekking Time: 2 hours.
  • Overnight: Teahouse in Kyangjin Gompa.
Day 06 :
Acclimatization Day in Kyangjin Gompa, Optional Climb to Tsergo Ri (4,984m)
  • Explore the stunning surroundings of Kyangjin Gompa.
  • Optional hike to Tsergo Ri (10km, 7-8 hours) for panoramic views of Langtang Lirung (7,227m) and other peaks.
  • Elevation: ↑↓1,200m (if hiking Tsergo Ri).
  • Trekking Time: 7-8 hours (if hiking).
  • Overnight: Teahouse in Kyangjin Gompa.
Day 07 :
Kyangjin Gompa to Lama Hotel (2,470m)
  • Descend 18km (7 hours) along the Langtang Valley through lush forests.
  • Arrive at Lama Hotel, a cozy stopover surrounded by greenery.
  • Elevation: ↑100m, ↓1,450m.
  • Trekking Time: 7 hours.
  • Overnight: Teahouse in Lama Hotel.
Day 08 :
Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru (2,250m)
  • Trek 10km (6 hours) through scenic paths with ascents and descents.
  • Pass through forests and terraced fields to reach Thulo Syabru, a charming hilltop village.
  • Elevation: ↑650m, ↓900m.
  • Trekking Time: 6 hours.
  • Overnight: Teahouse in Thulo Syabru.
Day 09 :
Thulo Syabru to Chandanbari (3,330m)
  • Trek 7km (5 hours) through dense pine forests to Chandanbari.
  • Visit the village’s cheese factory and enjoy stunning views of Ganesh Himal.
  • Elevation: ↑1,200m, ↓100m.
  • Trekking Time: 5 hours.
  • Overnight: Teahouse in Chandanbari.
Day 10 :
Chandanbari to Gosainkunda (4,380m) via Laurebina (3,910m)
  • Trek 9km (6 hours) to the sacred Gosainkunda Lake, a pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists.
  • Enjoy breathtaking views of the Annapurna, Manaslu, and Langtang ranges.
  • Elevation: ↑1,050m.
  • Trekking Time: 6 hours.

Day 11 :
Gosainkunda to Ghopte (3,430m) via Laurebina Pass (4,610m)
  • Trek 11km (6-7 hours), crossing the Laurebina Pass, the highest point of the trek.
  • Enjoy stunning views from the pass, then descend steeply through rocky terrain to Ghopte.
  • Elevation: ↑450m, ↓1,400m.
  • Trekking Time: 6-7 hours.

Day 12 :
Ghopte to Kutumsang (2,470m) via Tharepati (3,690m) and Mangengoth (3,420m)
  • Trek 15km (7-8 hours) through alpine meadows and dense forests.
  • Pass small settlements en route to Kutumsang.
  • Elevation: ↑500m, ↓1,450m.
  • Trekking Time: 7-8 hours.
  • Overnight: Teahouse in Kutumsang.
Day 13 :
Kutumsang to Chisapani (2,165m) via Chipling
  • Trek 16km (7-8 hours), starting with a steep climb from Kutumsang.
  • Pass through Chipling, a village with great views and a rest spot.
  • Continue with mixed ascents and descents, enjoying Himalayan and Kathmandu Valley views.
  • Descend through lush forests and terraced fields to Chisapani.
  • Elevation: ↑1,000m, ↓1,300m.
  • Trekking Time: 7-8 hours.
  • Overnight: Teahouse in Chisapani.
Day 14 :
Chisapani to Sundarijal (1,460m), Drive to Kathmandu
  • Trek 10km (4-5 hours) to Sundarijal, a gateway to Shivapuri National Park.
  • Drive back to Kathmandu (approx. 1.5 hours).
  • Enjoy a farewell dinner in the evening.
  • Elevation: ↑300m, ↓1,050m.
  • Trekking Time: 4-5 hours.
  • Travel Time: 1.5 hours.
  • Overnight: Hotel in Kathmandu.
